VERSUS

The journey between the two of us began over 10 years ago.  Two independent artists whose paths collided as each of us found our way into an apprenticeship underneath a master goldsmith and hand engraver.  Since the moment we met, the term VERSUS was applicable, it immediately became a gentleman’s match.  Two talented individuals with a fierce drive towards perfection, a competition not to outdo, but to improve.  With an incredible amount of knowledge gained and an otherworldly amount of ideas dreamt up during our year and a half apprenticeship along side one another, the bar was constantly being raised.  The competition was not with each other, it was always within ourselves.  The two of us never once stopped rooting for each other, never once had a doubt in the other’s individual journey towards success.  

After our defining time in apprenticeship, the two of us shared our first jewelry studio for a year. We pushed as hard as possible, working late nights, developing individual styles and encouraging one another.  The drive and hunger to express ourselves visually was unstoppable. Our mutual support never faltered. After the year of sharing a studio Everett’s journey led him to Los Angeles and Travis’ journey led him to the hills of Oregon City.  The communication, the support, the inspiration, never dulled, the push the two of us offered each other continued.  Almost a thousand miles apart the two of us still felt how intertwined our paths were, but we were driving forward individually as high end, independent goldsmiths.  

After years of success, innovation and individual accomplishments, we began brainstorming and envisioning something bigger, something that neither of us would accomplish alone.  Within a matter of weeks of our initial conversation about something bigger, VERSUS was born.  Born with a vengeance, a powerful vision and a strong 20 years of combined experience between two artists, two friends, two brothers.  The fact was simple, we had a mission and enough experience and know how to complete it.  VERSUS is the culmination of all of the lessons we learned as individual goldsmiths, it is a culmination of all of the skills we have developed and improved upon over the last 10 years.  

Versus is built upon a foundation of true friendship and trust, built upon a foundation riddled with lessons and individual growth.  The lives that we have lived separately both contained an immense amount of commitment to not only bettering our craft, but a commitment to bettering ourselves.  Becoming more disciplined, more aware, cultivating new skills and perfecting old ones, the push has never slowed, the grind has never stalled.  

VERSUS is alive and has a backbone filled with purpose.  It is about you VERSUS you, each piece represents the totality of the journey that is life, the organic complementing the refined, calculated paved roads winding amongst towering forests, twisted roots climbing through flat concrete surfaces.  The duality of perfection and humanism, the pain sprinkled in amongst the joy as a reminder that nothing is perfect, but anything can improve, anyone CAN become.  So heres to your individual version of becoming, here’s to your journey thus far, here’s to you VERSUS you.
